Dmytro Kobalia is not only one of the co-founders of New Archaeological School who drew the history of Zaporizhzhya archaeology since the end of past millennium. He is an extremely energetic and skilled archaeologist who works continuously to study and protect archaeological sites of Ukraine. Many of his ideas are implemented in interesting international projects. One of them is a restoration of ships raised during underwater archaeological works. With the support of American financing, the restoration works on Khortitsa Island (where he leads the Department of Archaeology of Khortitsa National Reserve) were carried out and the book “History on Frames” was published. We are always glad to meet his decisive and non-standard approach to solving many field and theoretical problems during fieldwork and in laboratory.
